End of a successful week...

We had our first presentation yesterday. We had to present our Project Proposal. Since we are the group no. 2, we were the 2nd group to present and finally our hard work payed off by making a successful presentation. Our presentation was up to standard, according to correct format and more importantly we managed our time very well.
BTW our lecturer in-charge, Ms. Geethanjali asked us change our project title from "OVDC Office Automation System" to "Office Automation System for Ocean View Development Company".
So from now on our project title will be "Office Automation System for Ocean View Development Company".

Busy with Charters, Proposals, Presentations:-)

In these two weeks, we were really busy with preparing Project Charter, Project Proposal and our first presentation. This week is so hard because we had to prepare the Project Proposal and get prepared for the first presentation as well. Any how we have over come all the difficulties at the last minute. :-) We'll be doing our first presentation tomorrow. So don't forget to wish us good luck! :-)
Five of our members will present the presentation tomorrow. Those five will be Me (Kesara), Hemamali, Ruwan, Kaushalya and Varuna. We are hoping make a good first impression tomorrow.

BTW If any of you have difficulties with getting a image of Gantt Chart via Microsoft Project(TM), use Gantt Project. It is a Free Open Source Software and much more better than the Microsoft Project(TM). Hope you enjoy using it.

Analysis

We went to OVDC for the analysis twice.. and we hope that we have understood their actual requirements. All the members participate on the analysis while some members went for the analysis on both days. And now we are planning how we gonna build the system to handle

• Human Resource Management
• Inventory Control
• Project Management

Plus the web site...
Yes.. We know It is a huge system.. But we are confident that we can make it on time.
And many thanks to all the nice people at OVDC who helped us a lot with our analysis..
I'm sure that all of our members had a real good time with their first blood on the industry as an analysts. :-)

OVDC Office Automation System

Our project is to provide an Office Automation System to the Ocean View Development Company (OVDC). We'll provide them a system which can handle Human Resource Management, Inventory Control, Project Management and a web site.
We are using Java and MySQL to develop the application. And we are thinking of using new tools like Goggle SketchUp for graphics in the web site.
